Instrument Proficiency Check
Regain IFR Currency with an Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC)!
Haven’t flown approaches in a while? If you have your Instrument Rating but haven’t flown the required instrument approaches and landings to stay current, you are required to get an Instrument Proficiency Check with a qualified Certified Flight Instructor.
The FAA issued an advisory circular regarding the requirements for an instrument proficiency check. You can read the circular here.
Instrument Proficiency Check Requirements:
- Hold a valid Instrument Rating
- Complete ground training on IFR regulations and procedures
- Receive flight training in instrument procedures
- Demonstrate emergency and unusual attitude recovery
- Perform at least one precision and non-precision approach
- Execute a missed approach procedure
- Obtain an IPC endorsement from an authorized instructor
- Pass a Practical Test with an FAA examiner where your aeronautical knowledge and flying skills will be tested
