Certified Flight Instructor Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Be able to speak, read, write, and understand English
- Hold either a commercial pilot certificate or airline transport pilot certificate with instrument rating
- Hold a valid Class 3 medical certificate from an AME
- Have a logbook endorsement from an authorized instructor
- Log a minimum of 250 hours flight time
- Pass a knowledge test
Not only do CFIs get paid to fly, they also earn valuable flight hours toward the 1,500 flight hours required for an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate. Working as a CFI can be a fun and rewarding job that can be used as a stepping stone to other great careers in the world of aviation.
